Professor and Consultant

Gambling and the Law®: What a Difference a Year Makes
Almost a year ago at CasinoFest 8, keynote speaker Professor I. Nelson Rose accurately predicted that Congress would fail to legalize Internet gaming, while more and more states would be authorizing racinos, casino table games and VLTs. Rose will now discuss what the last year has meant to operators and suppliers, especially the political successes of the "tea party" Republicans and the jobless economic recovery. Of special interest is the November 2010 elections—the first time in American history when more proposals to expand gambling won than lost at the polls. Rose will make specific predictions on what will happen in the coming year and beyond on both the federal and state level with important issues like intra-state Internet poker, convenience gaming machines in bars and restaurants, and tribes acquiring new land for casinos. Rose is recognized as one of the leading authorities on gaming law. He is an internationally known scholar, author and public speaker, and the author of Gambling and the Law®. A consultant and expert witness for tribal and state governments and industry, Rose combines the unique insight of a Harvard Law School educated professor with the hands-on experience of having been involved with most legal issues affecting legal gaming.
